Across the Table

That moment you realize you know the kid who just walked in the coffee shop, but it's been  so long since you've even spoken... let alone the likelihood of the two of you meeting up again..
The debate begins:
To speak or not to speak?
It has been over two years... would he even remember you?
The times you did hang out with him were few but sweet and have become warm memories that are dearly held. Yet, there is no reason why he should feel the same.
You prayed he would grow to be a good man, a strong man, a Godly man.
The life place he was at last you heard was a hard one
he was just a kid then..
He seems happy now.. thats good.
Still hasn't seen you.. would he even recognize you if he does.
The Answer is no.

There it is.
Gone without ever knowing how things turned about.
So the separate lives of the present go on while the memories of  friendship past grow another shade dimmer.
And still the prayers go on

Musing the Wonderment of love

Had a splendid time with the Springang yesterday. Sorry no pictures... BUT Had a beautiful breakfast feast of chocolate pancakes and scrambled eggs with coffee and smiles. Adon was able to join us as well!!! I haven't seen him for around six months... what are the chances that both he and I were in town for Connally's only day off this week? I will never forget that warm little kitchen, with the girls busily cooking and dropping food onto the plates of the three guys around the smallish table, chatting over coffee about school, plans, and life in general. A little family with nothing better to do than be together.
We played one of my favorite games after hearing a wonderful love story before Adon had to skat, but the fun didn't stop there.
"thrown rolls" to eat. It's crazy that through all the years having lived here I never had eaten there before.... I don't know how I missed it; all my family and friends have gone different times. In any case, it's just ironic that now that I don't live here, I go.
To top off the outing we all headed to the new hipster coffee shop down town that Honey now works at. All their coffee comes from Haiti. I had what's called "Haitian Dreams" a latte made with Haitian vanilla... so beautiful to taste!!
We played Apples to Apples and laughed a lot.
Headed home and lazily sat around the apartment and hung for a while before skyping with Connally's sister from a far away land. Oh the wonders of technology.
Thanks God for friends that never fail to bring a smile and a refreshing look at life when I get hung up on one side.

Hebrews 10:23

Rainy Day.
Low on gas, but still using what's left to get away.
Coffeeshop.
Grande Pike's Peak with sugar, honey, and cream.
Window seat.
Watching the fog tear away from the dark mountains.
I don't know what I have more in common with right now;
Clouds or Mountains.
Clouds: rising from the earth to a white sky, leaving behind the known solid ground only to drift... leaving their tears behind.
Mountains: standing strong on their foundations despite the storms washing around them. Dark against the white sky, seeming mournful to see the clouds fly away.. not wanting them to go, but knowing they must.
Or
...
Was it the Rain?
There is one thing that Rain makes me think of... Gratitude. I've spoken of it before, but just to remind, it is a song about Taking what God has given as provision and Thanking Him for it even though it may not have been the way You thought He should have provided. Understanding that He has the BEST understanding of needs... NEEDS (not wants).

yadda, yadda, yapp

Sorry I've been so spread out with things lately, college life is like running through an airport: passing food stations in hopes that the peanuts will sustain, glancing back and forth for the right gate/way, lugging your luggage... (wow.. I just realized why it's called that!!) when you're not losing it, running into people... while leaving the ones you'd rather be running into, and in a word? HURRIED. ..and don't forget to shut your phone off before take-off (since I'm always talking on it , right?).
Anyway, despite my opening analogy that probly doesn't even work, I am NOT in an airport headed for some far away destination. I'm sitting in my home away from home, away from home, away from home... did you get that?..... I'm at my coffee shop. Taking a break from reading "Acts" commentary.. which is good, by the way, but I started zoning. My stomach is warm, my hands are cold, and I'm going to make my new journal tonight!!! So excited.
Contemplating on Christmas gifts for the fam. Half of which I realized I could make myself, which would mean more anyway. But till then Turkey day is a week away!!! My boss is awesome and gave me an evening shift on Black Friday... let me clarify... I don't have to leave Thursday night anymore! I can leave the next morning instead.. It's a mandatory work day for all employees, so I'm just happy I only have to be there for the end of it all.
Okay, okay, I'm rambling. But that's okay for now since I'm about to post a more meaningful post after this. I guess I should allow myself more ramble sessions than I do.

The Overview

What a crazy weekend. It all started Thursday with a speedy trip to a favorite college town to meet up with friends and be scarred for life. Literally, I am now the proud owner of my first tattoo... one I designed myself of course. After sitting hunched over for an hour and a half, we set off to a coffee shop and paid wittness to a cappechino of "Ethic" perportions. But it was a rush as we scurried off to the airport; seeing a three-time-hangout aquaintance off to New Zealand. From there we caught a bite to eat and headed home as a caravan... kindof.
It wasn't long till the three of us were enjoying hot tea and listening to old voicmails down on Connally's family's kitchen floor.
Friday was off work, getting my car preped for my trip up north reminded me of how unadultish I feel, but it ended well with a Guy's night dinner date at Denny's... it's tradition.
Saturday... worked again.
Sunday? yep worked again again... but it was the Fourth, so I enjoyed some fireworks and watching some friends play soccer. Had it not been for my toe problems.. I would have played too, but instead made up the peanut gallery as a party of one.
Today finished my vehicular improvements as well as tidying up the house for house-sitters. The day came to a peek though with the arrival of a long time friend who is a constant encouragment. I'm so glad she's riding up north with me. It'll be so good to catch up and discover the Lord's grace and faithfulness in eachothers' lives.
